Biography

My name is Annelene.

I grew up in a home where folkmusic and folkdance were a way of life. So - my parents are folkmusicians, and my mother even folkdance instructor. From childhood, I've been to dance balls, and music events. As a kid, I slept next to my dad's drum chair, under the long danceballs of the night, and before I could barely spell my own name, I stood and played my violin, if I wasn't dancing .

At a very young age, I was already determined that music was what I wanted, and the dream of applying to the music conservatory was big. After my years in boarding school and high school, I applied to MGK (preschool to the academy ) in Kolding, where I studied at the folkmusic department.
In 2013, I applied to the Southern Danish Conservatory of Music  in Esbjerg where I also studied folkmusic.  I completed my master degree June 2018.

I started a new education"Contemporary creative artist" which is expected to be completed in 2020.

In the fall of 2016, I released my first EP 1000 Timer, which started as part of my June 2016 bachelor project.

The future already has many projects, which hopefully I can write more about soon.

"Annelene is a determined, inventive and curious musician, well founded in the traditions of her home country, but with a persistence and drive for applying these foundations to a modern and cohesive artistic direction."

- Hal Parfitt-Murray

"I was lucky to work with Annelene Toft in 2019. I think she is a great composer and musician, it was a pleasure to work with her. Her compositions are beautiful and you can hear many different colors and beautiful melody lines. As well her sound is great when playing her fiddle.

Hope to work soon with her again!"
