My name is Annelene.

I grew up in a home where folkmusic and folkdance was a lifestyle. So - both of my parents are folkmusicians, and my mother is also a folkdance instructor. From childhood I was at dancing events and folkmusic camps. At a very young age I was already determined that I wanted to apply for the music academy.

After my years at boarding school, and high school I applied for MGK (Preschool to the music academy) in Kolding, at the folkdepartment.
In 2013 I applied an got accepted for the academy folkline located in Esbjerg, where I in June 2016 did my bachelor in folkmusic.

ShotBox

ShotBox started as a quartet in the fall of 2013, and in the autumn 2014 we became a trio since our fourth member in the band went to Sweden to study. As a trio it went quite fast, new compositions came, and a lot of concerts as well.

We now have a red line in our music, a mixture of Scandinavian traditional folk and our own compositions, that also has the inspiration of the Scandinavian folkmusic.

In the fall of 2015 we were nominated for DMA folk as Talent of the Year, with that compliment we now started a lot of new projects, which can be followed on our facebook page.

We are currently also musicians for the dance group Embla.

Besides concerts, we have created workshops, played for dancing and taught folkdance.

1000 Timer

Folkmusic can be anything

You can't define the genre, and it's hard to put it in one particular box, and that's why I have been composing new music, and arranging traditionel folkmusic, in a new way which is in my perspective inspired by other genres, but it is of course still folkmusic.

I asked the question, what the hell is folkmusic? It's a question I've asked myself many times, but I'm not the only one wondering what folkmusic is.

I believe I can find people who think that 1000 Timer is not folkmusic, but then I also find many who do.  All I know is, that folkmusic may be exactly what you, yourself want it to be.

Folkmusic will always change with peoples own opinions. And luckily, it changes all the time, and it should be allowed to.

So what the hell are folkmusic actually? For me, folkmusic is this music that have on 1000 Timer. At least right now ...

Release 15/09 - 2016
