My name is Annelene.
I  grew up in a home where folk music and folk dance were a way of life. My parents are folk musicians, and my mother a folk-dance instructor. Ever since childhood, I have participated in dance balls and jams. As a child, I slept in a box next to my father’s drum chair, during the night’s long dance balls, and before I could barely spell my own name, I played on my violin as well as I could.

At a fairly young age, I was already determined that music was what I wanted, and the dream of applying for the music academy was big.
In 2013, I applied to the South Danish Music academy (SDMK) in Esbjerg, where I became a bachelor in June 2016, and where I finished my master folkmusic, June 2018.
Now i’m at soloist in Esbjerg called “Contemporary creative artist” which i expected to complete in 2020.

In the fall of 2016, I released my first EP “1000 timer” which started as part of my bachelor project in June 2016.

I have a great interest in event and project work. The interest came when I was working with the folkmusic camp called “ROD”  The future already has many projects, which I hope to be able to write more about this page.

Toft & McKenzie

Violinist Annelene Toft Christensen and Cellist Adam McKenzie, started playing in the fall of 2017, both had great interest in newly composed music and the duo Toft & McKenzie quickly emerged.

Toft & McKenzie plays newly composed music with inspiration from folk music and classical music. Annelene has her roots in the folkmusic, and Adam in the classical,  therefore it provides exciting compositions and arrangements in the most sensible way.
